As a lot of women are currently going through sorority recruitment, I wanted to share something from when I rushed seven years ago. There were three houses on campus that I was interested in. After the first night I knew that one of the three was not going to be for me, I just didn’t fit in.

By the second night, I had decided I really wanted to receive a bid from the house I perceived as being “cool”.

The third house I was sure I’d receive a bid from and knew that it felt like “home.” But I didn’t feel like it should be that “easy.”

On pref night I received an invite from the “cool” sorority and the one that felt “right.” I accepted the invites from both and that night decided that I still would like to receive a bid  from the “cool” house.

I ended up receiving only one bid. That bid was from the sorority that felt “right.” After accepting the bid, and a few months in to being a member of the Greek community, I saw things from a different perspective and knew that I never would have fit in with the “cool” sorority and probably would have ended up dropping my letters.

You will end up where you are meant to be and with the organization you’re meant to be with. I continue to be very active with my organization as a national volunteer and enjoy meeting more and more sisters from other places. Trust your heart and you’ll end up HOME.
